Dave, who runs DoggiesWelcome

Hi, I’m Dave. I run DoggiesWelcome as an independent website. The DoggiesWelcome name has been around since about 2010, when the site started life as a directory of dog-friendly places. In 2026 I took it on and rebuilt it from the ground up as a set of in-depth, carefully checked travel guides.

The old directory had thousands of listings, but many of them hadn’t been checked in years. Dog rules change all the time: parks close for renovation, restaurants shut, beaches bring in seasonal bans and airlines change their fees. A guide is only useful if it’s current, so that’s what this site is built around.

How we research our guides

Every guide on the site follows the same process:

  • Official sources first. We check rules, fees, hours and policies against the organization that sets them, such as the city parks department, the state park system, the National Park Service, the airline or the hotel brand.
  • Independent fact-check. Before a guide is published, a second review checks its facts again against those sources.
  • If we can’t verify it, we leave it out. We would rather give you fewer places than send you to a dog park that has closed.
  • We show our sources. Each guide ends with a “Last reviewed” date and links to the official sources we used.
  • We update guides. When rules change or a reader tells us something is out of date, we check it and correct the page.

We don’t claim to have visited every park, beach or patio we write about. Instead, we do the careful research that’s hard to do on your phone the night before a trip, and we always tell you when something is worth confirming before you go.

Our independence

Businesses can’t pay to be listed or recommended on DoggiesWelcome. We recommend places because they’re genuinely dog friendly and we could confirm the details. The site doesn’t currently use affiliate links or show ads. If that changes, we’ll say so clearly on the pages concerned. You can read how we handle your information in our privacy policy.

Spotted something out of date?

If a park has closed, a fee has changed or a rule is different when you get there, please tell us through our contact page. We read every message, check the details and update the guide.
