Doggies Welcome

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 23, 2026

This privacy policy explains what information DoggiesWelcome.com collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain, and we only collect what we need to run the site.

Who runs this site

DoggiesWelcome.com is an independent dog-friendly travel guide run by Dave, and operated from the United Kingdom. Dave is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time through our contact page.

Information we collect

When you join our email list

If you sign up for our free dog-friendly travel guide, we collect the name and email address you enter in the form. We use them to send you the guide and occasional emails about dog-friendly travel. Our email list is managed by AWeber, an email service provider, which stores your details on our behalf. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave the list at any time.

When you contact us

If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message by email. We use them only to reply to you, and we don’t add you to our email list unless you ask us to. We keep these messages only as long as we need them to deal with your question.

When you browse the site

We use Google Analytics, set up through Google’s Site Kit plugin for WordPress, to understand how visitors use the site: which pages are popular, how people find us and what devices they use. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your IP address, browser, device type, approximate location and the pages you visit. We look at this information in aggregate; we don’t use it to identify you. You can learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Like most websites, our web host also keeps short-term server logs, which include IP addresses, to keep the site secure and running properly.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. This site uses:

  • Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (such as _ga), which help us count visits and see how the site is used.
  • Essential cookies set by WordPress, which are only used if you log in to the site’s admin area.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work if you do.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell or rent your personal information.
  • We don’t show third-party advertising on the site.
  • We don’t accept payment from businesses to be listed or recommended in our guides.

Links to other websites

Our guides link to official sources such as park agencies, airlines, hotel brands and tourism boards. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for how they handle your information.

At the moment the site doesn’t use affiliate links. If that changes, we’ll clearly say so on the pages concerned and update this policy.

Who we share information with

We only share information with the services that help us run the site, and only as needed:

  • AWeber, which manages our email list.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics.
  • Our web hosting provider, which stores the site and its server logs.

Some of these providers store information in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the provider’s legal safeguards for international transfers. We’ll also share information if the law requires us to.

How long we keep information

  • Email list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages: only as long as needed to answer you.
  • Analytics data: for the retention period set in Google Analytics, after which Google deletes it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete it;
  • object to or restrict how we use it; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our emails.

To make a request, use our contact page. If you’re in the UK and you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

This site is written for adults planning trips with their dogs. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us their details, please contact us and we’ll delete them.

Security

We use reputable service providers and keep the site and its software up to date. No website can guarantee complete security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page if the way we handle information changes, and we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top.
